Luz had always been active and fit, but after her diagnosis, she gave up working out altogether during her chemotherapy phases because of the food restrictions imposed on her by doctors.
During these treatments, she lost a lot of muscle and gained fat. Her diet had to be very strict during chemotherapy, as it is one of the requirements for chemotherapy to be more efficient at battling cancer cells. It meant she had to avoid many foods with higher calorie contents, such as meats and other high-protein foods. She also minimized her sugar intake and processed foods and was kept at a deficient calorie diet of around 1000 calories daily.
